Whether your finishing up your Christmas shopping or just getting started, there’s still plenty of time to take in some of the outstanding bands tearing up stages all over Chicagoland this weekend…
Thursday “Abigail Williams” headlines a big show at Bada Brew 802 Theodore St in Crest Hill starting at 6 pm. Support bands for the show are “Through Ashes”, “Cimmerian”, “Middle Class Militia” and “An Undying Allegiance”. Tix at the door are $12 and this will be an all ages’ show although you have to be over 21 to drink.
Kevin Krauss host an open mic night at Chicago St. Bar & Grill 75 N. Chicago St in Joliet at 8 pm.
Friday will be a high-powered female fronted double header at the 400 Club in Q Sports Bar & Grill 8109 S. Cass Ave in Darien when “Chasing Amy” and “Life Is Drama” take apart the stage beginning at 9 pm.
Blues-rock band “Overman” will be fixing the hole in your soul at Chicago St. Pub located at 75 N. Chicago St. in Joliet. The band starts at 9 pm.
Over at Tailgaters (431 W. Boughton Rd. in Bolingbrook) the female fronted “My Headphone World” takes the stage at 8 pm.
Neil Young and classic rock band “Heart Of Gold” will be live at Skinnys 109 E. Mondamin St. in Minooka at 9 pm.
Pop Rocks and Alternative is the theme for the evening at Mojoe’s 22 W. Cass St in Joliet when headliners “Me Talk Pretty” bring their “2011 Wake Up!” tour to town. Special guest will be “Madina Lake”, “New Years Day”, “Imperial Sons” and “Team Light You On Fire”. “Hell Or Highwater’ unfortunately had to leave the tour earlier this month. Doors open at 6 pm. Party band “Hit Parade” stops at JW Hollstein’s 17358 S Oak Park Ave in Tinley Park at 9:30 pm.
“Timing’s Everything” brings out their acoustic show to the Front Street Cantina 319 Front St in Lemont at 7:30 pm.
“Bernie Glim & The Country Roads Band” head out to Ed & Joe’s 17332 S. Oak Park Ave in Tinley Park starting at 8:30 pm.
Singer/Songwriter MER will be performing at Katie O’Connor’s 13717 US Rt. 30 in Plainfield beginning at 8:30 pm.
Cathy Richardson heads over to Ballydoyle Pub 28 W. New York St. in Aurora at 9 pm.
Meanwhile “North Of Eight” will be performing at Ballydoyle located at 5157 Main St. in Downers Grove with a start time of 9 pm.
The Lodge 5750 Lakeside Dr. in Lisle welcome back “7thHeaven” with a show time of 10 pm.
Mike & Joe will be at Stage 151 in Harrah’s Casino 151 N. Joliet St in Joliet starting at 9 pm.
“Rendition” heads back to Sam Maguire’s 39 Orland Square Dr. in Orland Park at 10 pm.
Female fronted party band “Spoken Four” return to Zante Lounge 8888 W. 159th St. in Orland Park. The bands start rocking at 10 pm.
Saturday metal comes out in full force to raise funds for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Will County. The event takes place at The University of St. Francis Moser performing Arts Center located at 500 Wilcox St in Joliet starting at 6 pm. Scheduled bands are “Skull King”, “Approaching The Dawn”, “Between The Years Of Silence” and “Black Water”. This is an all-ages show at the suggested donation is just $5.
Speaking of metal, Live 59 (16108 S Rt. 59 in Plainfield) host the all ages “Panzerfest II” firing up at 4 pm. Aside from “Panzer” of course will be “Degradation”, Acidic Assault”, “Testimony”, Clocktower”, “Angel Grave”, Terranaut” and “The Bubonic Plague”. Cost is $5 before 5 pm or $7 after.
Not to be outdone, Punk rockers take on a benefit of their own at Game Pazzo 2011 63rd St in Downers Grove kicking off at 7 pm. “Punks Against Domestic Abuse” hosted by Samantha Gunz Booking features the bands “Dead Split Egos”, “The Mammoth Squid” and “Shotgun puzzles, art supplies etc go to Family Shelter Services in Wheaton. Old School Bar & Grill 926 Gardner St. in Joliet is throwing a Christmas Party with “Under D Influence” beginning at 8 pm. Special guest include Dave & Lynn Gow as well as the debut of “Fiddlebean”.
Folk rockers “Miles Nielsen & The Rusted Hearts” are the featured entertainment for a wristband party at Chicago St. Pub & Grill 75 N. Chicago St. in Joliet. Cover is $7 or a wristband for $25. Wristband wearers are entitled to receive Jameson’s Irish whiskey, all flavors of Absolut Vodka, Avion Tequila, Beefeater Gin, Malibu Rum, Chivas Regal Scotch and PBR’s from 9pm. to close.
“Judas Beast” takes apart Freakster’s Roadhouse 113 E. Baltimore St in Wilmington with a start time of 9 pm. JB performs a 50/50 tribute to Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.
Female fronted rockers “Decibel” will be rocking Mike & Denise’s’ Pizzeria & Pub 1760 N. Farnsworth Ave in Aurora. The band starts at 9 pm.
Metallica tribute band “Blackened” hosts their Christmas show and last gig of the year at Q Billiards 8109 S Cass Ave in Darien at 9:30 pm.
Area favorites “Hi Infidelity” make a stop at Limestone Brewery 12337 S Rt. 59 in Plainfield with the show getting underway at 9:30 pm.
It’s going to be a Metal Christmas at Bada Brew 802 Theodore St in Crest Hill with “A Silent Truth”, “Knifed At Gunpoint”, “Silence Is The Killer” and “Deadman’s Hand”. The show kick starts at 9 pm and cover is $5.

Another female fronted rock band “Cover Gurl” will be live at Hollywood Casino 2300 Empress lane in Joliet at 9 pm.
The ever-popular 80’s band “Hairbangers Ball” will be at Tailgater’s 431 W. Boughton Rd. in Bolingbrook. The show gets going at 9 pm.
Beatles tribute-show “American English” head back to Stage 151 in Harrah’s Casino 151 N. Joliet St. in Joliet at 8 pm.
“The Cool Rockin’ Daddies” make a stop at Total Sports 523 Fairway Dr. in Naperville and get percolating at 9:30 pm.
Female fronted dance rockers “Six To Midnight” will be appearing at Heroes West 1530 Commerce Lane in Joliet at 9 pm.
Sunday “Drugs” frontman Craig Owens brings his solo show back to Mojoe’s 22 W Cass St in Joliet. Special guest include Jim Sweeny, Johnny Rockette, “Up From The Wormwood” and “Maybe Not Tonight”. Sunday wouldn’t be Sunday without the “Joliet Heritage Blues Jam” swinging down at Kegler’s Sports Bar 905 Theodore St in Crest Hill starting at 6:30pm. A full back-line is provided including a Hammond B-3 (complete with Leslie speakers) and a rig for blues harp. Weather you’re looking to jam or just chill listening to some of the area’s top blues musicians duking it out, this is the place to end the week. Take advantage of the great food, as the kitchen stays open until 10PM.
