Quick Queue at Busch Gardens in Tampa is a paid way to skip the lines for the park’s most popular attractions, like the Cheetah Hunt, Montu, Kumba, and SheiKra roller coasters. Buy this magic little card and you get to go in through a special line with little or no wait. There are versions that let you use it on each of the major ride once or unlimited cards that let you skip the lines on all included rides all day.
This privilege doesn’t come cheap, and the price varies by season. It’s around $20 to $33 for the one-time version and $33 to $50 for unlimited Quick Queue. But it’s priceless if you visit on an insanely busy day as you skip past lines of an hour or more to ride as much as you want.
How can you tell if buying Quick Queue is worth it? Obviously, major holidays are good times, and Busch Gardens gets crowded in the summer time too. But certain days are quiet enough to allow you to ride whatever you want with little to no wait. If you know for sure it’s a busy time, I recommend buying Quick Queue in advance since they sometimes sell out. Otherwise, here’s how to judge once you get to the park:
-When you enter, walk over to Cheetah Hunt and Montu and see if they have long lines. There’s a place to buy Quick Queue at the front of the park, but don’t worry as there are other places too. Cheetah Hunt almost always has a long wait, so if it doesn’t, you’re not going to need Quick Queue. For example, on a recent visit, we discovered that it’s wait was only 15 minutes. Sure enough, most of the other rides were nearly walk-on too. If Cheetah Hunt is busy, check out the line for Montu. If that’s got a fairly long line, too, Quick Queue is probably a good bet, and you can buy it at the Montu shop. Just one warning for this method: Montu sometimes takes a while to get a long line, even on busy days, because it’s rather far-flung and Cheetah Hunt draws people first.
-Head over to SheiKra and see if it has a line. Like Montu, SheiKra sometimes takes time to get busy, so kill a little time by riding other things on your way if they’re not crowded yet. If SheiKra’s line is long, buy your Quick Queue at the Guest Services location near the SheiKra splash down.
Even on really busy days, the lines take some time to get long so use your Quick Queue wisely. If you know you’re going to need it, arrive at park opening and buy it. Then head to the back of the park and ride SheiKra, Kumba, and other major rides without using your Quick Queue until the crowd catches up to you. I see people wasting their Quick Queues all the time, using them when a wait is only between 5 and 15 minutes. I know they’ll regret it a couple of hours later when the lines are 60 minutes plus.
