Manila FAME International organized a spectacular event with CEBUNEXT, Bijoux Cebu and manilanow with the cooperation of The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry’s export promotions agency Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).
As you are about to enter, signs are at the door welcoming the visitors, guests, government and students to register (fill out entrance form) and pay the general public entrance fee of 500 pesos at the SMX Convention Center. The VIP’s, press, foreign and local trade buyers register on the opposite side with their separate lines. The VIP’s received airport arrival, departure and shuttle assistance. There was a Business Matching Program and an On-site Buyer Assistance Service Center to help in making business/travel/tour arrangements.
It was a very well organized event with home décor, fashion, Bijoux Cebu, arts, crafts, gifts, holiday lamps, lighting, indoor and outdoor furniture sections. There were two floors of exhibitors with breathtaking items. The T’boli ethnic group in their traditional ensembles were in the registration area weaving and playing their musical instruments. There were numerous areas that had people demonstrating how the handmade items were created. The exhibit layout can be seen on http://www.manilafame.com/en/layout.htm. There was a handmade replica of a 1957 Porsche Speedster with a Volkswagen motor that was being sold for $100,000 by Classical Geometry. It was hand inlaid with coconut and rattan with a resin finish.
It took at least a day per floor, and that is without trying to make any business transactions. Numerous buyers from major department and chain stores from different countries were at the event. There were buyers that purposely turned their badge over in order to avoid having anyone know who they were buying their items for. There were exhibitors that did not want to have pictures taken of their newly launched items. If you want to see what we could not take pictures of, it is highly suggested to register for Manila FAME International’s events.
It is very difficult to describe how unique and beautiful the items were. It is best to look at the pictures from the event, but even the pictures do not show the craftsmanship involved. The exhibitors that were kind enough to allow us to take pictures of their breathtaking items are on the video in this article, and also on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGmJ9x0YxKo. The first picture of the exhibitor will include the name of their business, which will then be followed by pictures of a few of the items that they are selling. I will soon be posting the pictures on www.filipinasinger.com/fame. If you are interested in purchasing any of the items from the exhibitors, their contact information will be on the following sites:
- Manila FAME International exhibitors:
- CEBUNEXT and manilanow exhibitors:
- Bijoux Cebu exhibitors:
On the aforementioned sites, you will be able to click onto the name of the business and it will then provide you with the contact person, title, location, telephone number(s), email address and website.
If you are interested in purchasing items that are made in the Philippines, the Manila FAME International fair is definitely something that you will need to attend on March 14-17, 2012. You will be able to register for the event on http://www.manilafame.com/en/index.php?idpg=buyer_registration.
