The last USCHO poll for November out today puts Merrimack’s 9-0-1 record on top of the heap for a second week in a row, followed by Boston College and Notre Dame to complete the top three. Notre Dame earned a tie for second place even after splitting their series with Lake Superior State. Minnesota-Duluth comes in at #4 after taking an idle weekend while Minnesota is #5 after splitting a road series in East Lansing, MI with Michigan State. Ferris State and Ohio State lead the “B” group at #6 and #7 despite not playing last weekend, with #8 Colorado College sandwiching #9 Union with #10 Denver to round out the top ten. Colorado College lost two one goal games to North Dakota where a total of twenty combined goals were scored while Union played their first game in twelve days and Denver split games at the Denver Cup with a win over Princeton and a loss to Miami-Ohio.
Teams eleven through fifteen this week have an east coast and Midwest flavor as Lake Superior and Western Michigan come in at #11 and #12 as LSSU split games with Notre Dame and Western Michigan played Notre Dame Tuesday night to a 2-2 draw. For those curious, WMU won a 2-0 shootout. Boston University comes in at #13 this week followed by #14 Yale and #15 Colgate. Yale lost a one goal game on Saturday to Boston College while BU beat Cornell in overtime on Saturday. Colgate beat Vermont on Friday night by three goals in a 4-1 drubbing even though the Catamounts outshot the Raiders 33-26.
The final grouping in this week’s poll sees Michigan State rise from #20 four spots to #16 after splitting a home series with #5 Minnesota as mentioned above. #17 Cornell lost to Boston University on Saturday and is in action again next weekend in home battles with St. Lawrence and Clarkson. #18 Miami re-enters the USCHO poll after not being ranked last week with wins over Providence and Denver to capture the almighty Denver Cup. Michigan and Michigan Tech round out this week’s poll in #19 and #20 respectively after the Wolverines went 0-2-0 on the weekend in losses to Northeastern and Union while Michigan Tech split a series with St. Lawrence.
