Muskegon, Michigan – Hold onto the sides of your chair to help keep you calm as you read this egregious act of animal cruelty to a five-month-old puppy. Timothy Cregg, 48 beat the tiny white pit bull repeatedly in the head with a hammer, slit the puppy’s throat and while the defenseless little animal suffered and bled, Cregg threw the puppy into a trash bin.
If you’re trying to figure out what horrible act a five-month-old puppy could possibly do to Cregg to deserve that beating, there is none, however Cregg allegedly told the police officer he punished the puppy because the dog “chewed on a comforter.”
A neighbor called the police when they saw Cregg throw the puppy into a trash container. An officer arrived and found the shaking and bloodied puppy still alive.
Cregg was arraigned on Monday in the Muskegon County 60th District Court for killing or torturing an animal. He is being held in lieu of $45,000 bail. If convicted of the felony Cregg could face up to four years in prison.
Pound Buddies, a dog rescue in Muskegon took custody of the puppy, but stated the little one’s injuries were too severe to save him, and the puppy was humanely euthanized.
“My heart breaks for this innocent little life,” stated Amy Gibson, a student at Penn State University enjoying a few days in the South Florida sunshine. “I hope Cregg gets the maximum sentence for his unbelievable animal cruelty. I am going to write to the District Attorney in Muskegon County and ask him to do more than the usual slap on the wrists these horrible animal abusers get.”
