In this modern remake Pierce Brosnan take his first shot at playing the suave MI6 agent, James Bond. Investigating the destruction of a Russian satellite weapons base, James learns of a terrorist plot whose next target is London.
Pierce Brosnan (James Bond), Sean Bean (Alec), Izabella Scorupco (Natalya), Famke Janssen (Xenia), Joe Don Baker (Jack), Judi Dench (M), Robbie Coltrane (Zukovsky), Alan Cumming (Boris), Desmond Llewelyn (Q).
GoldenEye begins with some intrigue and action before calming down momentarily to tell us about the plot. As things get rolling again the action and intrigue comes hot and heavy through the remainder of the film in classic James Bond style. Keeping things fun are the fast cars, action scenes, cool Bond gadgets, and of course the lovely ladies.
Acting was decent with Brosnan actually doing well though he just seems a bit weak to play James Bond. Bean was a great antagonist, as was Janssen. The remainder of the supporting cast delivered nicely and rounded out the film well.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were very good as we have come to expect from this franchise. Good scenery with location shots was a joy as always. Action effects were nicely done with good attention to detail and an authentic feel. Dialogue was good, as was sound and soundtrack.
Overall this remake of GoldenEye was well done. A good plot, solid well done action and effects, and nicely done acting make this one worth watching if you are a James Bond fan at all.
With plenty of violence and some sexuality this should be fine for teens and above.
GoldenEye is no longer showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
