From Louis’s 2008 Chewed Up tour, Showtime brings us this special from the Emmy Award winner as he tackles the tough issues that keep the audience laughing the night away.
Not for the shy, Louis spends some time talking about oral sex, derogatory terms, which underwear to choose, kids and marriage. At about 100 minutes, Louis has the time to really explore some of the issues he raises and does so well. What lacks are the good laughs you would expect from a show of this length. Not to say he isn’t funny, because he is. But it feels like he is more determined to use shock value to get the laughs than things that are truly, originally funny.
Louis does have good delivery and presents emotion well with his delivery. He is easy to understand, talking plainly and clearly throughout the show.
Camera work was interesting with many shots where his head was almost cut-off. A simple stage was the setting without much background distractions or props used. Sound and soundtrack were good though the enhanced laugh track was a bit much at times.
Overall Louis C.K. is entertaining though you probably won’t end the evening with a tummy ache from laughing.
With plenty of foul language including sexually explicit dialogue, save this one for adults and above.
Louis C.K.: Chewed Up is no longer showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
