Lunopolis is setup to look like a documentary with very little in the way of production sets or backgrounds. Plot setup is short with the film pretty much jumping into the story right away and the meat of things coming later. As the plot progresses there are some nice surprises, twists, and some excellent explanations of alternate and parallel timeline theory. As the films winds down the approaching ending isn’t hard to figure out but regardless, is nicely done. For what appears to be a low-budget independent film Lunopolis is very well done with a solid plot and good pace.
Acting was a bit rough in this one with the cast feeling a bit green. The apparent inexperience however fit the film style well, providing a more realistic feel to the movie.
Camera work was rough, shaky, had poor color and is exactly what you would expect of a field documentary or independent film. Sets and backgrounds appeared to be natural throughout the film. Effects were minimal but what there was fit the film perfectly and was well done. Dialogue was good if not a bit campy at times. Sound and soundtrack were fairly well done.
Overall Lunopolis is a surprisingly entertaining film. Mild suspension of reality is necessary to fully enjoy the film so forget this one if you insist on being a realist at all times. Conspiracy theory or alien fans, who also enjoy documentaries, will likely enjoy this the most.
With some mild foul language this one should be fine for teens and above.
Lunopolis is no longer showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
