Suppose the organization asked donation recipients to pass along the generosity with two acts of kindness to others. Would you give?
Picture an organization that for the first time in its 11 year history, is inviting the public to donate in a effort to increase the fund pool and assist more people in need. Would you give?
If you answered yes then you’re in luck! A charitable fund in L.A., the California Community Foundation (CCF) Pass It Along Fund, has provided over $1.4 million in assistance and helped more than 1,000 Angelenos with urgent housing, transportation, food, medical and other critical needs – and produced uncountable acts of kindness over the past 11 years.
Take for example, the woman who, with her three children, escaped an abusive husband with no money and nowhere to go. A local nonprofit found her temporary housing, but it was too cramped and unfit for her family. A gift of $4,300 from the Pass It Along Fund turned her life around in just 72 hours, when she was able to pay the security deposit and first and last month’s rent for a larger apartment. To express her gratitude, she passed along the kindness by embroidering tablecloths and linens for neighbors and others who could use them.
The Pass It Along Fund provides immediate financial assistance ($100 to $5,000) throughout the year to individuals and families in a crisis situation at the time they need it most, in association with more than 40 nonprofit partners throughout L.A. County.
The fund was established by anonymous donors of the California Community Foundation in Los Angeles in the true spirit of philanthropy: to help people at a moment of critical need without expecting anything in return. It provides one-time financial assistance to remove obstacles between individuals and their ability to live self-sufficient, independent lives.
The original donors required that 100 percent of the money go directly to assist recipients within 72 hours of the request, with little paperwork or bureaucracy. They asked that recipients have no obligations except to pass along two acts of kindness, with the belief that kindness and generosity can have a ripple effect throughout the community.
CCF is proud to honor their great work and vision by inviting members of the community to support this remarkable opportunity. In order to increase the fund pool and assist more people in need, the public is invited, for the first time in its history, to donate to the Pass It Along Fund.
Consider an established organization that passes along 100% of your donation to local people in need within 72 hours, with little bureaucracy, all while producing a ripple of acts of kindness. Will you give?
