Harvard linguist and psychologist on violence, Steven Pinker, has released a new scientifically provocative book, The Better Angels of Our Nature.
In his study, Dr. Pinker claims that violence has fallen throughout time, and under the right conditions, our evolved brains can allow us to live in increasingly greater peace.
While the claim has undoubtedly received a variety of intellectual, religious, and moral criticism, how convincing is Dr. Pinker from an educational standpoint?
Shouldn’t parents, teachers, and child-care workers be the first to notice such evolutionary changes in human behavior?
If you are a parent or educator, what is your take: Are people born increasingly peaceful?
