Many awaken on the first day of 2012 with hope for a blessed and bright year ahead. Many awaken today filled with determination to make life improvements that will lead to brighter futures.
To become better versions of themselves.
The new year begins with inspired resolutions that will–hopefully–last beyond the first few weeks. All too often inspiration fades as the excitement of the new year wanes. But Matthew Kelly, founder of the Dynamic Catholic Institute, has a message that directs Catholics to the essential ingredient for every life-changing, and lasting, improvement.
According to Matthew Kelly, Catholicism is much more than a religion or a set of rules; it’s dynamic transformation. To be Catholic means to live the Gospel life, to become more like Jesus Christ. This ongoing process of coversion brings a person to life in the fullest, because people are most fully alive when they are changing and growing and exploring all they are capable of becoming.
“God, show me one way in this Mass I can become a-better-version-of-myself this week!”
That’s Kelly’s simple, but powerful, message. To become a better version of oneself in a lasting way, not necessarily by accomplishing anything spectacular but by doing everything with great love. He shares this message during his Living Everyday with Passion and Purpose events. After a successful visit to Tampa Bay, he will return on February 11. 2012 at St. Mark the Evangelist in Tampa. Mark the calendar. Carve out a few hours in February to nurture a life-changing resolution after the excitement of the new year has waned. Foster a closer relationship with God to follow where He leads for a brighter future. Remember that Catholics are part of a worldwide community and the Church is all about people–feeding them, housing them, clothing them, educating them, caring for them when they are sick, forgiving them when they stumble and fall.
The Catholic Church is love.
What better resolution for 2012 than to start each new day living a life of great love?
