Are you looking for some family friendly events and activities this New Year’s holiday? Houston has quite a few. Which one will you do?
New Year’s Eve Live and Glowarma
Get the party started early in the day as you head to Discovery Green at 11 a.m. as the Ice Skating Rink opens ($10.00 to skate).
Let it “glow” let it glow! No snow here but plenty of bright lights in the big city. Head to Discovery Green on New Year’s Eve for Glowarama. This event offers free admission, and free family fun as you enjoy the Illuminated Art Car Parade (begins at 8 p.m) live music perfomances, a fireworks display all begininning at 7 p.m. when the Bud Light (ages 21+) and Family Zones open.
Chameleon will be performing at 7 and 9 p.m., Baby Jay at 7:50 p.m. and 9:30 and Delbert McClinton at 10:30 p.m. A 3D light show lights up the night at 11:45 p.m. and at 11:59 the fireworks begin!
And it’s all free!
Sharkey’s New Year’s Eve Kids Party is being held at the Downtown Aquarium . Watch the ball drop in the ballroom, contests, giveaways and a buffet. Reservations are required. For more information on tickets, reservations and pricing contact 713-223-3474.
New Year’s Eve at Sugarland Town Center
This New Years Eve celebration begins with family friendly events from 7 p.m. -9 p.m. adding more “adult” entertainment from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Look for puppet shows, street performers, candy sculptures, dueling DJ’s. live music and a light show. At midnight, the grand finale includes a 3D Sugar Cube Drop.
New Year’s Eve Noon Bash
Held every year at The Children’s Museum of Houston the New Year’s Eve Noon Bash (10 a.m.- 3 p.m.) with many hands on crafts and activities at the museum, a parade, dance party and giant balloon drop. Visit The Children’s Museum for more information on events and ticket prices.
New Year’s Eve Kids Comedy and Magic Show
The Improv Comedy Club is host to this comedy and magic show designed especially for the kids at 2 p.m. featuring Houston comedian Chuck Montgomery. Tickets are $10 plus a $3 service and processing charge and available online where you can also find out more information about this “magical” New Year’s Eve event.
And for the sporting families: Dec 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM enjoy the Meineke Car Care Texas Bowl will be at the Reliant Stadium in Houston Texas. Ticket prices vary for this event. Tickets are available online here for the Meineke Car Care Texas Bowl.
