If you’re looking for live pro wrestling action this Friday night, look no further than the Cypress VFW. NWA Houston is back for “Christmas Carnage,” their final event of the 2011. Three huge matches have been announced for the event, which is set to start at 7:30pm.
Headlining this huge card is the annual Christmas Rumble match, that will feature more than 25 stars from NWA Houston and beyond.Transtar Federal Credit Union (one of the sponsors of NWA Houston) has offered a $10,000 CD for the winner of the battle royal. The winner will then have the option of either keeping the money or they can eventually cash it in for a title match of their choosing. Below is a list of names that have been announced so far for this year’s Rumble.
- “The Hebrew Phenom” David Stahr
- Alex Reigns
- Big Ricky
- Bolt Brady
- 3-time and current NWA Tennessee Champion Arrick Andrews
- Bolt Brady
- The Crusaders (Pop’n Lock)
- Black Diamond
- Derek Neal
- NWA Lonestar Tag Team Champion “Benchmark” Baines
- NWA Lonestar Tag Team Champion “Texas Torture Machine” DJ King
- Ken Carson
- “Showtime” Scot Summers
- “One Man” Mike Dell
- “The Scottish Nightmare” Wallace Gordon
- “Gentleman” Jack Jameson
- “The Legend” Mr. B
- Bubba Dumplins
- Rudy Russo
- The Grappler
- Chaz Taylor
- Current NWA Lonestar Champion “The Name That Entertains” Jasper Davis
Those are just some of the names that have thrown their name in to the mix. It’s interesting to note that this match holds a distinct advantage for current champions. For example, if Jasper Davis loses his NWA Lonestar Championship to current NWA Tennessee Champion Arrick Andrews on Friday night, he could theoretically win the Christmas Rumble and get a chance to get that title back. Conversely, this is a golden opportunity for someone to make a huge statement in NWA Houston and get their name on the map.
Speaking of Jasper Davis and Arrick Andrews, you will see those two square off for the NWA Lonestar Championship. Andrews, who recently won his third NWA Tennessee Championship, claims he should already be NWA Lonestar Champion following his stop in Cypress a few months ago, and will have the chance to back that theory up this Friday night. On the other side, Jasper has been on a hot streak lately, and looks to add Arrick Andrews to the list of champions he has sent packing this year. It should be a tremendous confrontation. It had been rumored that it could be a title-for-title match, but as of now it will just be for Jasper’s title.
Another high-impact match will pit Ken Carson teaming up with the NWA Lonestar Tag Team Champions (“Benchmark” Silky Baines and “The Texas Torture Machine” DJ King) to face “One Man” Mike Dell, “Showtime” Scot Summers, and a partner of their choosing. The recent events between Carson and the Psycho Circus has resulted in a number of match interruptions and brawls. NWA Lonestar CEO Tony Brooklyn has given Summers and Dell the opportunity to find a suitable third partner. And to top it off, a source within NWA Houston has noted that Summers has not only found that partner but that person hates Ken Carson more than the Circus does. Over the last few months, the list of people that dislike Carson has grown in huge numbers. So it will be very interesting to see who Dell and Summers have chosen as their partner, as it could be just about anybody.
As if Carson didn’t have enough on his plate, he’s at the center of another controversy. After recent attacks on Jen-Alise, several people are putting him to blame for Barbi Hayden losing the NWA Lonestar Women’s title to Jen-Alise. But it was actually the interference of Angel Blue in that match in October that distracted Hayden and gave Jen-Alise the opportunity to get the shocking win. Last month, Angel made a statement that she wasn’t just in NWA Houston to win the NWA Lonestar Women’s Championship, but she was there to capture the attention of Ken Carson. With the recent problems between Carson and Hayden, how will Angel factor into this picture? Come out Friday night and see how it plays out.
On October 7, “The Modern Day Hero” Kevin Douglas traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina and participated in a one-night tournament to crown a new NWA World Junior Heayvweight Champion. After claiming victory in the tournament, Douglas returned to NWA Houston as the brand new NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. With the win, he made the decision to vacate the NWA Lonestar Junior Heavyweight Championship. This has allowed several members of the NWA Houston roster to compete in matches over the last couple of months to determine who would be declared the new #1 Contender to the vacated title.
NWA Lonestar CEO Tony Brooklyn has announced that there are two men that he feels have proven themselves to be worthy of a championship match. This Friday night, you will see Rudy Russo and the always exciting Bolt Brady battle to see who can walk away as the brand new NWA Lonestar Junior Heavyweight Champion.
In other action this week, you will see “Made In America” Chaz Taylor in singles against against The Grappler, and former NWA Lonestar Tag Team Champions Pop’n Lock (The Crusaders) will face two members of NWA Top Rope in Hammer Jack and Derek Neal. Don’t miss the final event of 2011 at the Cypress VFW, located at 21902 Highway 290 (between Huffmeister and Telge). Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
