Join Brick Store Pub for the US national release of the Courage Imperial Russian Stout 2012 Vintage. Meet head brewer Jim Robertson from Wells & Young’s brewery in Bedford, England and have a taste of this iconic and exquisite beer. Originally brewed by John Courage for Empress Catherine the Great of Russia in 1795, Jim has continued the legacy of the original Imperial Russian stout and will release the 2012 vintage on October 18th. With a rich espresso body, pear overtones, and a smoky, fruity finish, this beer is fit for an Empress and brewed for the rest of us! Come and enjoy an afternoon of beer tasting on the Decatur square at the Decatur Craft Beer Festival. More than 100 of the finest American craft beers are showcased at this annual event sponsored by area distributors and Decatur’s restaurants and pubs. Enjoy live music and food from local restaurants available for sale. Admission is $40 per person and includes a commemorative tasting glass. The festival is limited to the first 4,000 ticket holders. All tickets are sold online. No tickets are available for purchase at the gate. You must be 21 or older to attend. No children or animals allowed in the festival area. No exceptions!
Saturday, October 20th thru Saturday October 27th
Atlanta Beer Week 2012 begins October 20th and runs through the 27th at various venues around the metro area. Servings as the home of the #23 brewery in the nation regarding sheer volume, SweetWater, along with a number of other burgeoning craft breweries originating in Georgia’s capital and throughout the state including Athens’ Terrapin, Burnt Hickory, Red Hare, Monday Night Brewing, Jailhouse, and the soon-to-be Decatur-based Wild Heaven, it’s only right that this city of six million-plus deserves to host Atlanta Beer Week 2012. In support of the Inman Park Security Patrol, the historical quaint neighborhood will be hosting the Beer Chase 5K run / Beer Chase Beer Fest. Following the race at 12 p.m., enjoy a sampling of more than 100 beers from your favorite local and national craft breweries. Tickets include a spooky commemorative tasting glass. Hungry? Great food will be available from some of the favorite neighborhood haunts. Since it is the Saturday before Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required.
