Carson Daly of the late night show Last Call With Carson Daly will once again host the NBC New Year’s Eve special live from Times Square in New York. Beginning on tape delay at 10:30 p.m. Central Time, St. Louisans can ring in the new year with the famous celebration in Times Square. Country music fans will be happy to know that one of the guest performers for this year’s tv special is Blake Shelton.
As 2011 comes to a close, it’s definitely a year that Blake Shelton should want to celebrate. In 2011, Blake Shelton’s album Red River Blue debuted as the #1 album in America and his subsequent first release from the album, Honey Bee, went to #1 in only ten weeks. Blake Shelton also costarred on the first season of The Voice, enjoying the second place finish of his chosen contestant, Dia Frampton. Blake Shelton won the CMA Award for Male Vocalist of the Year for the second consecutive year, Favorite Male Vocalist by the American Music Awards, two American Country Awards for the Who Are You When I’m Not Looking video and ends the year with three Grammy Award nominations. With so much professional success, you almost forget that he had just a wee bit of a personal milestone as well – his May marriage to fellow country music star, Miranda Lambert.
While 2011 was definitely Blake Shelton’s year, 2012 holds the promise of even more success for this artist who seems to have found his way to the “big leagues” of country music. While Blake’s album Red River Blue released too late for the ACM Awards last year, it’s quite possible that he will see some nominations in 2012.
On Carson Daly’s New Year’s Eve special, Blake Shelton will perform in addition to Jessie J, Drake, Megan Hilty, Cee Lo Green, The Roots and Tony Bennett. St. Louisans can watch the entertainment on NBC’s local affiliate KSDK.
