So there are plenty of articles written about where to find a mate. Heck, I’ve even written one on this very site, but imagine this…places you might be going to are not the best places to meet men.
Patti Stanger, Bravo networks star of The Millionaire Matchmaker, wrote Become Your Own Matchmaker: 8 Easy Steps for Attracting Your Perfect Mate. I was intrigued with her twist on places you might not be so successful meeting someone. I even listed one of the places as an unexpected place to meet men. Go figure.
Let’s see if you agree with Ms. Patti:
Spiritual Classes and Workshops
When a man is attending classes to work on his spiritual path Patti believes it is best to leave him be. They are probably looking to solve some personal issues or find internal peace. Why stand in the way of his journey to God? Chances are he isn’t ready to start a relationship.
Gyms and/or Fitness Centers
There are plenty of hot guys in my gym. The problem with that is there are also plenty of hot women. Really young perky women. Suddenly it starts to feel like a reality show where all the women compete for one hot guy and hoping for the red rose.
Bars and Nightclubs
The club is a hunting ground for men and you are the prey. The club is full of womanizers, players and married men pretending not to be. It’s not impossible to meet a good man in the club but it’s unlikely in this environment.
I went on a cruise for the first time ever a couple of years ago and I didn’t see any single guys. They were all coupled up or in big groups to where you couldn’t tell who was single or not. Bottom line, single straight men do not go on cruise ships, according to Patti.
Local Coffee Shops
The people in coffee shops seem so serious, intense and focused; typing important stuff on a laptop, studying for an exam, using the place as an office or using a quiet corner to download porn. Not exactly a spot conducive to socializing and meeting single guys.
Nail salon? The only straight guys I’ve seen were with their girlfriends and they looked uncomfortable as hell getting their nails done. Hair salon/barbershops are not my fav. I can’t flirt with a guy in the barbershop when I’m on the other side with a dozen rollers in my hair. Not cool.
Unless he’s taking his mom out for brunch on Mother’s Day, most single, straight guys don’t do “brunch”. This is more of a couple outing. There is one exception, according to Patti, and that’s when men go on business trips and hit the buffet at the hotel. Nothing sexier than a man in a suit.
So what do you think? Do you agree with Patti’s list? Do you know some other not-so-good places to meet men? Please share and post a comment.
