Many people have asked me how to clear and create a sacred space for their home. Here are some helpful things that I do to create my sacred space.
The first thing you need to do is find an area in or outside your home that feels comfortable and will be distraction free from animals, humans, etc. You want your space to be an area that you can go to, to get away and not have to worry about anything bugging you.
The next thing you can do is make you space feel special by adding anything that helps make you feel protected. An example could be a statue or picture of Jesus or a Goddess that you feel protects you.
You want to have a chair or blanket to sit on that is comfortable while you do meditation or your spiritual work. I like to sit on the ground so I have a couple of different blankets that I like to use. Pillows are also nice to sit on.
After you have got your space set up and feel comfortable about it you want to then clear the space. By this I mean using some incense, sage wands, or candles that clear the air of the space from any negative energy that may still be hanging out. I like to use a sage wand or smudging wand and smoke the area really good to get rid of any negative energy. I also smoke myself with the wand to get any negative energy off of me. If you are smoke sensitive incense and candle work well too. You can get sage in both. You can also use cedar as an alternative as it also works the same. You can also find mixed blends of incense or smudging bundles on Etsy (I have a couple for sale at my site, www.etsy.com/shop/heatherwalize. Many people in Meso-America use copal in a copal burner, which is also very nice.
Whatever you choice to use it is important to use it every time you go to your sacred spot so you can have a clear mind and area while you do your meditation/journey.
