It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and while that generally means bad news for auto racing fans (no racing action), that doesn’t mean your favorite tracks are closed down. Here are a few of the tracks that are hosting holiday light shows this season.
Charlotte Motor Speedway – Carolina Christmas features more than 4.5 miles of LED light displays with millions of lights. The show is open nightly through December 31st, 6 to 9 p.m. ET (not open Christmas Day) and runs from the entrance to zMAX Dragway , around the Dirt Track and into the Charlotte Motor Speedway complex, complete with a trip around the 1.5-mile track. Bristol Motor Speedway – Speedway in Lights features millions of lights over its four-mile route through “Thunder Valley,” which benefits the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. The show is open from 6 to 10 p.m. ET nightly through January 7th; admission starts at $10 for cars (maximum eight people) from Sunday through Thursday, $12 on Friday and Saturday. The event also features Santa’s Sleigh Ride (reservations and additional fees), the Johnson Controls Ice Rink (open until January 15th) and the HVAC Chill Hill for tubing – find complete details at www.bristolmotorspeedway.com.
Atlanta Motor Speedway – the Gift of Lights, a drive-thru display of more than one million lights, takes over Atlanta Motor Speedway through January 1st from 6 to 9 p.m. ET Sunday through Thursday and 6 to 10 p.m. ET Friday and Saturday. New Hampshire Motor Speedway – a second Gift of Lights event takes place in New England at NHMS, also through January 1st. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and 6 to 10 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday – admission is $15 per vehicle. Visit newhampshiregiftoflights.com for more information.
Las Vegas Motor Speedway – the Glittering Lights at LVMS features 2.5 miles of lights in over 400 displays. Hours for the event are Monday through Thursday 5:30 to 9 p.m. PT and Friday through Sunday 5:30 to 10 p.m. PT – admission is $15 per vehicle.
