Tomorrow night, December 5, Randy Rogers (www.randyrogersband.com) returns to his musical birthplace for a special acoustic show. Rogers got his start at Cheatham St Warehouse, playing in Kent Finlay’s Wednesday night Songwriter Circle. While working at the outlet mall, Rogers honed his songwriting skills playing the circle. Cheatham St owner Kent Finlay told Rogers that if he got a band together, he would give him a steady night to play, and the Randy Rogers Band was formed. The band signed their record deal at Cheatham St, and has gone on to become one of the most popular upcoming country bands in the nation. Tickets are $20 in advance, and advance tickets are recommended, as bhis shows always sell out. You can purchase tickets atwww.cheathamstreet.com .
Rogers released his first cd, “Live at Cheatham St” back in 2000, and each successive release has brought more fame to the band. His latest cd, “Burning the Day”, has been gaining the band more fans with every radio play. Rogers and the band have been featured on both the David Letterman Show and the Jay Leno show. They’e recently returned from a tour with Miranda Lambert. While great things have been happening for this local band, they still love to return to Cheatham St, where they put on a show like no other show they’ll play anywhere.
Come out tomorrow night San Marcos, and welcome home a local boy who made it big. One highlight of the show is sure to be the duet with Kent Finlay on the Finlay’s “They Call it the Hill Country”, which was first recorded by the Randy Rogers Band. There’s always a chance for special guest appearances when Rogers takes the Cheatham stage, and tomorrow is sure to be a sold-out and special show.
