The Templar Knights series by Rene Lyons tells of story of five Templar knights and their journey as vampires on earth. It begins on Friday October 13, 1307 when King Philip of France ordered the arrests of the Templar Knights. They are named heretics by the Catholic Church and are imprisoned and tortured. After three years, fifty knights were burned in the center of France.
Because they fought in the Holy Crusade but lost faith in God, five knights were pulled from the flames and damned to walk the earth as vampires. The Archangel, Michael came from heaven and ripped their souls out thus leaving a huge scar as well as emptiness and a strong sense of damnation. But because they once were the strongest and noblest of all the knights, they were given one chance to earn redemption and enter Heaven. They are to find the holy relic and protect it. If they fail, they are condemned to hell for all eternity. These Templars are Sebastian, Constantine, Rapahel, Tristan, and Lucian.
