There appears to be an egregious error and misunderstanding of epic proportions regarding the decades-long Author, Sponsor and Co-sponsor of virtually every piece of legislation aimed at trying to end abortion in America, namely Congressman Ron Paul, MD.
In his very first term in Congress, back in the 1970’s, after the dreadful ruling of Roe v. Wade; Dr. Ron Paul was actually the first Congressman to introduce the Human Life Amendment to our US Constitution.
Through the years, possibly with growing frustrations of not being able to get enough support for an amendment to our constitution and his passion to try to find other ways to end abortion without having to continue to wait for the US Supreme Court to ever overturn Roe v Wade, Congressman Paul authored and was the prime sponsor of many other bills to try to fight the good fight from every direction possible in order to try to begin saving the lives of the unborn.
Here is just a partial list of some of his signature bills:
Human Life Amendment
Sanctity of Life Act
We The People Act
Taxpayers’ Freedom of Conscience Act of 2003
Life-Protecting Judicial Act of 2003
Bill to Ban Funding of Partial Birth Abortion
It must also be noted that Congressman Ron Paul has relentlessly continued year after year to re-introduce many of these bills throughout his entire career in Congress.
If other members of the Republican Party were honestly even half as serious as this stalwart defender of the unborn to end abortion in America, Dr. Ron Paul certainly has given them every opportunity and conceivable method to have put their support where their re-election promises were and gotten it done years ago.
Let’s get real here. It is very possible that the real reason why abortion has not ended in America is because keeping abortion legal throughout our nation has provided the Republican Party with job security by despicably giving many Americans a false sense of hope that maybe, one day there will be enough “Dr. Paul’s” in Congress or in our Supreme Court that have the integrity to honestly help this true champion of life defend the most innocent among us, the unborn.
One or two of these gentlemen/ladies by themselves in Congress has not worked and it is high time that the American people wake-up and start doing their own research on candidates instead of looking for what letter they tout behind their name, what popular talking heads tell you or how slick a speechwriter a candidate may have.
If the pro-life issue is your driving factor in deciding whom to vote for President of the United States, then Congressman Ron Paul not only rightly deserves your consideration but should not continue to be smeared on the very issue that he has obviously tried to solve from every conceivable angle possible over his entire career.
Life precedes liberty. As an OB/GYN doctor, I’ve delivered over 4,000 babies. That experience has made me an unshakable foe of abortion. Many of you may have read my book, Challenge To Liberty, which champions the idea that there cannot be liberty in a society unless the rights of all innocents are protected. Much can be understood about the civility of a society in observing its regard for the dignity of human life.
In 40 years of medical practice, I never once considered performing an abortion, nor did I ever find abortion necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman.
It should also be noted that Dr. Paul’s medical practice treated Medicaid and Medicare patients for free as he never took a penny from government-subsized healthcare programs.
