Sunday night, The Biggest Loser star Sam Poueu’s website is back online after several days of being inaccessible. The site crashed after last Wednesday night’s The Biggest Loser update show, where many fans learned of Sam Poueu’s accident for the first time. Sam’s fiancee Stephanie Anderson had directed people to the site to learn more about Sam’s accident and see how they can help. Fans of Sam, Stephanie and the show flocked to the site in such record numbers that it crashed and was offline much of the weekend.
Now Sam Poueu’s website is back up, and visitors are greeted with a message from Sam himself. In part, it reads,
“Quit and can’t do not live here. This time has been tough, but I walk by faith and not by sight. I’m very thankful for my family and friends and for those who have sent well wishes and have kept me in their prayers and thoughts.”
Sam also quotes Carl Bard, sharing, “Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” On the site, fans can read about Sam Poueu’s accident on September 3, 2011. The site gives some insight into the accident where Sam fell four stories off a rooftop, and gives some detail on his injuries and surgeries. They share that they are not soliciting donations, but fans have asked for ways to help regardless.
Though the family initially kept many of the details of Sam Poueu’s accident private, they have opened up to share updates and some emotional details with the fans. Perhaps the most heartbreaking is the honest and emotional letter from Sam’s sister Tracy as she recounts learning of his accident and just how astronomical the odds have been that Sam needed to overcome. While many fans did not know about Sam’s accident at the time it happened in September, they are supporting Sam Poueu now and have been anxious for updates and the ability to send well wishes.
Sam Poueu’s website also shares how fans can donate to the fund to support his recovery, as it will be a long and challenging road. Sam and Stephanie had been planning an early 2012 wedding, and clearly he is working very hard to keep those wedding plans in place. Stephanie has remained by his side throughout the accident, as have their extended families. Fans of The Biggest Loser fell in love with Sam and Stephanie during their 2009 season, and have remained supportive of them ever since. Sam has shared on his Twitter that he has been reading the messages, they the fan’s support is helping him continue to fight.
