Saturday, November 12, 2011, will be a day to remember for hundreds of Monterey Bay area wine and food enthusiasts. “The Best of the Blue” is a monumental wine and food fest held to celebrate the wines of the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association.
Monterey Bay wines will be celebrated, discussed, and sampled
Join Steve Heimoff, West Coast Editor for Wine Enthusiast, as he hosts a celebration that includes samples of the highest rated wines made from Monterey County fruit, and discussions with noted winemakers. Rob Jensen from Testarossa Winery – situated at the Los Gatos gateway to the Santa Cruz Mountains – will be on hand to discuss recent vintages and winemaking techniques. Wine personalities joining Rob and Steve will be Eric Laumann (Cambiatta), Bill Anderson (Chateau Julien), and Dan Lee (Morgan Winery).
The Best of the Blue is named for the famous Monterey Bay “Blue Grand Canyon™”
The event’s namesake is the remarkable underwater “Blue Grand Canyon” that is as big as the Grand Canyon in Arizona. This submerged mega-canyon stretches from the shallows of Moss Landing, traversing the length of the Monterey Bay, emptying into the mighty Pacific Ocean. This unique geological formation is one of the defining factors of the unique terroir that defines Monterey County vineyards’ fruit – producing fog and variable temperatures that help to shape flavor profiles only found in grapes produced in this fabulous 90 mile long growing region.
Food will be provided by gourmet food trucks from across the state
