The Shades of Green on Walt Disney World Resort is what’s known as an Armed Forces Recreation Center, (AFRC.) This resort is nestled in between two PGA Championship Golf Courses, The Magnolia and The Palm, all of which happens to be a natural sanctuary for the local wildlife who are frequently found traversing the hotel grounds. What was once a mere dream here was brought lovingly into fruition under the careful, nurturing guidance of it’s very first General Manager; the late, great James “Big Jim” McCrindle. Conveniently located in a tourism-rich area of Central Florida, it is one of only two AFRC’s in the entire continental United States. It is unique in that it offers so many of the true resort-style amenities, dining and activities, and is only a stone’s throw away from the most magical place on earth with busses and shuttles running daily.
This year, however, the real attraction to pay attention to, is a new offer that will prove to be the gift that keeps on giving… The ARFC Survivor’s Family Program. This program was designed to offer our thanks and appreciation to those brave men and women who have paid the ultimate price, and their respective families by offering 50% off the normal rates to the surviving members of Fallen Warriors of our nation’s Armed Forces. As an extra measure of gratitude, this extraordinary offer will extend from now until September 2012 and also applies to sponsored guests of eligible family members! Should you plan to stay for this holiday season, don’t forget to treat yourself to the sprawling Christmas buffet or even travel back in time in thier Roaring 20’s New Year’s Eve Gala!
So grab your pearls, hop in a fast car, and crank up King Oliver and Earl Hines! ‘Cause today’s a great day to start the new year with Shades of Green on your holiday itinerary!
