September 12, 2011, New York, NY—“Let the parties begin!” declared Reem Acra of her S/S 2012 collection. Coveted by the uptown lady and the downtown girl alike, Acra’s luxurious ostrich feather accented, beaded silk and leather pieces were shown with equally elegant and versatile hair, makeup and nails at New York Fashion Week this fall.
Key makeup artist Polly Osmond focused on bringing out the contours of the face using an ethereal, glowing palette of colors from MAC. Osmond chose MAC Metal X Cream Shadow in Fusion Gold as a highlighter, a MAC taupe shading powder, and MAC eye shadow in Copperplate on the lids, to execute her artful highlighting and shading.
Veteran stylist Rutger, representing Cutler salon, twisted the models’ hair up into low, casual chignons, taking care to leave some loose strands around the face. Of the soft look, he explained, ”Using texture demonstrates her playful side in an uncontrived way.”
To achieve this, Rutger first blew out the hair using a T-3 hair dryer and Redken Guts 10 volume spray foam. He then wrapped hair into a knot around a gently teased, low ponytail, finishing with a spritz of Redkin Quick Dry 18 instant finishing spray.
Alisha Botero, the National Nails Director for Red Door Spas, created a shimmery nude look using a creamy nude base, Essie Sand Tropez, topped with a sheer golden coat of Essie Sequin Sash.
The result was ladylike, youthful, radiant and refined–a perfect complement to Reem Acra’s chic line.
