There’s only ten days left before the end of this year’s Christmas Season and since this holiday is all about giving I figured some of you kind hearted single ladies are out there thinking of ways to give. Maybe your saying to yourself: What should I do? What can I do? Where do I start? Well yours truly has a little something in her crimson velvet bag of holiday cheer. I know sometimes you don’t have money in your pocket to go out and buy everything on your Christmas list, but God has gifted us all with 24 hours in a day to do whatever we please. So I say why not give the gift of time to someone who will really appreciate it.
Here are some of your options:
Feed the homeless: Okay I know this is very cliché’ but very important and kind none the less. Hell, if Kim Khardasian can make time then so can you. (I know she was there for the press but it’s the thought that counts) And who knows maybe a fellow volunteer may peak your interest. Try Volunteermatch.org. They have a great list of volunteer opportunities. Just put in Oakland or surrounding areas and off you go to make a difference.
Help out at a retirement home: Remember, not all old men with long white beards have thousands of toy creating elves around to keep them company. So do some research and visit a local retirement home. It doesn’t hurt to play Chess or call the numbers for bingo. And if you’re not the “host” type just smile and listen to some old stories. besides you never know who may have a handsome grandson, but don’t go there in hopes of getting hooked up. Anyway, here is the link to Satellite housing INC. They have plenty of volunteer opportunities.
Set up a Toys for tots drive at your job: There’s nothing like a project during the holidays to get my mind off of being single. So why not organize a Toys for Tots drive with your employer. Santa Claus is not the only person who can give out hundreds of gifts. Besides that warm fuzzy feeling of helping kids smile on Christmas morning is unmatchable. And spreading goodwill is always a plus.
Bring back Caroling. This one is for my more daring single sisters. Why not round up some fellow single girls and go all 1800’s on some unsuspecting neighbors. Go out and buy matcing sweaters, print the lyrics to your favorite holiday classics and have the time of your life! I would however be sure that you can at least hold a note.
So get out there and make a difference one scoop of mash potatoes at a time. And although this kind gesture seems to be 100% about other people you’ll be amazed at how much it will benefit you as well. So leave a comment below about your experience or some other ways to spread some holiday Cheer.
