Professional athletes abound in Chicago. Baseball, basketball and football players, that is. But finding professional athletes who race endurance sports are a little harder to come by. So when Garmin hosted a question and answer session with professional cyclist Christian Vande Velde, riders and cycling aficionados came to the Garmin store on a cold, rainy night to hear what he had to say.
Vande Velde described his winter training regimen, one that includes riding outside in nearly all temperatures, as long as it doesn’t dip below 20 degrees, and conditions. He talked about the Tour de France and the professional racing circuit. And he told stories about cycling like one that happened earlier in the day: riding with Bo Jackson.
Once the question session wrapped up, the event moved to the main floor of the Garmin floor where Vande Velde autographed pictures, posed for pictures and chatted up the attendees. Check out the slideshow on this page to see more.
