The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) will meet in Key Largo beginning November 16th at 8:30 a.m. at the Key Largo Grande Resort and Beach Club. Plenty of recreational anglers are expected to attend the meeting to voice their opposition to the proposed rule changes for commercial harvest of spotted seatrout.
Several organized efforts have been established to influence the commissioner’s decision on the current proposals.
The Coastal Conservation Association Florida has asked CCA members to engage in an email campaign rejecting the new seatrout rules, and to show up at the meeting in person.
The Florida Guides Association has taken a similar position and representatives will attend the commission meeting in opposition to the changes.
More opposition is coming from the Snook and Gamefish Foundation. The organization polled recreational anglers and found overwhelming opposition to the proposed rule changes.
