Dubbed the XXXMas show at the Cleveland House of Blues on 12/28/2011 it was extremely safe to say that Steel Panther absolutely killed last night. A sold out venue with wall-to-wall people and alot of different types of people in the crowd, from the older generation to teenagers. From the moment the band took the stage they had the crowd on their side.
Steel Panther went through most of their two latest releases strong tracks. They had the crowd singing every song with them. You could walk to any portion of the venue and people were singing alot. A great vibe in the HOB. There were numerous people in the audience who dressed (Wylde Strype) like members of the band. The Panther buzz is strong here in Cleveland and the Northcoast Area.
Opening for Steel Panther was the band Hawkeye. Hawkeye is fronted by one of the co-host’s on WMMS’s afternoon show The Alan Cox Show. Her name is Erica Lauren. Her band was pretty strong and had strong control of the music. The band was extremely passionate of their music and it showed in their delivery. Erica had her moments of shining. Seems she needs to work a little on her stage presence and be more inviting to the audience. Throughout her set she would look away from the crowd and sing. Other than that fault she had a strong performance and would recommend anyone who was into her style of music to check out another show. She has strong potential. Prior to the show WMMS (Alan Cox) had a raffle which they gave out numerous prizes including an autograph guitar signed by Steel Panther. Most of the morning show (Rovers Morning Glory) was on stage (Duji, Chocolate Charlie, Dumb, and Jeffrey LaRoque).
Highlights: The strong point of the show is the dynamic control the band has on stage. They gel tremendously great and interact with the audience throughout the whole show. The musicianship is extremely top notch.
Overall: I rate this show 5 out of 5. I am only counting Steel Panther’s performance in this review. You know what you are getting when you attend a Steel Panther show.
