New Year’s Eve food buffets, champagne fountains, Hors d’oeurves and calories flowing
There’s nothing wrong with celebrating the year ending and welcoming in the new after all you have done great this year where that healthy diet and exercise has been concerned. There is no need to avoid that last holiday of the year to save yourself from extra calories, just make some changes and those calories will remain in the fountain and not on your waist line. So keep your calories in check and may be even free up a few for that little splurge.
When it comes to that dessert table it seems to have every selection ever invented. That traditional fruit cake is there waiting. Here is good news not to have that piece exchange it for one ounce of fudge. You will still be in sweet treat heaven but you will save yourself 69 calories.
Cheese and cracker trays seem to line the table. If there is a buffet with shrimp walk that way. Ten shrimp with one tablespoon of cocktail sauce will actually save you 145 calories in comparison to that two ounces of cheese and six crackers.
Exchange your spoons and plates. Those large servings spoons contain around a 150 calories but if you use two tablespoons full you will only be adding 50 calories. Same idea applies to plates use the smaller plate and save around 400 calories.
Coffee with cream and sugar for dinner. Try having a cup of green tea which not only gives you numerous health benefits but you save about 100 calories.
Those dinner salads with the dressings traps. Omit the two tablespoons of ranch and have two teaspoon of olive oil and half a lemon for juice, saving yourself 139 calories.
Soup that other beginning meal starter. Avoid that Onion Soup Gratinee (french bread and cheese added on top) go for some vegetable soup and only have around 150 calories versing that awful 750.
Chocolate time and dessert. If you can swap that piece of chocolate cheese cake and go for the truffles, three of them only give you 312 calories.
Switch the dip or lose the chips. Salsa has far less calories for one cup is only around ten calories, but consume that have half cup of cheese sauces and you will be swallowing 210 calories. Or skip the chip for pistachios around fifty only gives you 162 calories.
The worse calorie counts on new years is that alcohol. If you do drink do so in moderation.
Dump that five ounce White Russian and have five ounces of white wine and save drinking 238 calories.
If you’re mixing at home add in low calories soda for your drinks. If your at a party or a bar try add some orange juice to your alcohol and receive some vitamin C.
If you drink beer try light beer. Even though both have the same amount of calories light beer has fewer carbohydrates.
Mixers for your drinks that will not load you down with calories, diet soda or diet tonic, six ounces of orange juice and eight ounces of cranberry juice.
It is a great idea to start out that night with a tall glass of water or sparkling water it helps to satisfy your thirst so you will not drink that much alcohol to do it.
Always make sure you get your exercise in for the day and have enough sleep before you go out.
Have something to eat before you go out celebrating and have snack here and there throughout the night.
Be aware of your own personal limits and above all do not drink and drive.
Have a happy and safe New Year.
