The Grammy Nominations Concert has become a star-studded annual event that is televised in U.S. on CBS. In addition to live performance, the event announces the nominees for the next Grammy Awards. The 2011 Grammy Nominations Concert was held November 20 at the Nokia Theater. Here is what this celebrity who attended the event said in backstage during a press conference in the media room.
TARAJI P. HENSON
What can you say about your upcoming album?
Unfortunately, my album is coming out next year, so I’m just a presenter [at the 2011 Grammy Nominations Concert]. [She laughs.] We haven’t put it together yet. We’re still coming up with concepts, so I’m taking suggestions.
What is it like being a presenter instead of a nominee or performer?
The pressure is off. The pressure is on everybody else in the music industry. It was fun. I’m a huge music person. I have over 10,000 songs on my iPod. I listen to some of everything. I’m glad they called me.
Are you rooting for anyone in particular to win a Grammy?
It’s hard because I’m a music lover, so you can’t ask me to pick just one. I just can’t. It depends on the mood.
Can you talk about your current and upcoming acting projects?
I’m a on a television show called “Person of Interest” on CBS. I have an independent film coming out in February called “From the Rough.” I play a golf coach. And then I have [the movie] “Think Like a Man,” which is based on a Steve Harvey book, which is a romantic comedy, so I don’t have to cry. Thank God! I’m sick of crying. I cry enough in my life.
What kind of music do you listen to that would surprise people?
Maybe the Dead Kennedys. Nine Inch Nails. Yeah, I’m a headbanger. [She laughs.]
