Most Texas leaders are optimistic on the decision that the United State Supreme Court will hear a challenge regarding the Obama Administration’s health care plan.
Attorney General Greg Abbott released a statement indicating that “with the Supreme Court’s decision to hear our challenge to ObamaCare, the federal health care law is closer to an end.”
“Given the substantial implementation costs associated with this 2,700-page law–and the unconstitutional mandate that it will impose on all Americans–we are pleased that the Supreme Court has moved quickly and agreed to hear this very important case.”
“As the federal district court and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in this very case, the federal government exceeded the constitutional limits of its authority by requiring all Americans to buy government-approved health insurance.”
VOTERS SAID NO!
In March of 2009, Democrats had a 79-seat majority in the House of Representatives, and a 20-seat majority in the Senate. President Obama’s approval rate was over 60 percent.
When Democratic representatives jumped on the bandwagon to force the Obamacare package, many voters said NO!
Even after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told them “we have to pass this bill to find out what’s in it,” they obeyed.
Later Americans began learning what was in it, and said no to the higher costs. Certain Democratic leaders did not listen to their constituents.
VOTERS CHANGED THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE
“We are not listening to the same career politician’s promise us this and that, and really only listen to the special interests and lobbyists,” said Tina Martinez, a lifelong Democrat living in south San Antonio. “Those days of what’s in it for me are all over. The new game is what is best for America is best for me.”
With that attitude, voters changed the political landscape that some congressional and senatorial leaders may still haven not figured out.
“The country is in bad economic conditions because of their greed,” Martinez reflects. “When things are this desperate, and what those politicians are doing is hurting us, then we have the right, and will, to change our minds. And we are.”
Apparently the voters did change their minds. By September of 2011, the Republicans have a 49-seat majority in the house and the Democrats 20 seat majority has dwindled to six in the Senate.
WE CAN BE STUBBORN TOO
“Even the people we vote for want to be stubborn and listen to that Obama, and Pelosi and Reid, and try to sell us something we don’t want and that is not working,” said Ernie Guerra, a friend of Valdez, “then we can be stubborn too.”
“These congressmen are not listening to us and they better,” said Guerra. “They are listening to Obama and the unions and their paying backers, but that is why Obama’s rating is at an all-time low.”
“Even the federal judges are saying Obamacare is against the Constitution,” said Valdez. “What’s it going to take for them to get their XXXXX together, and start listening to us for a change?”
After the November 2010 elections, the only Republican who favored Obamacare lost his job. Of the 34 Democrats who voted against the bill, 11 of them saved their jobs.
CUELLAR FAILED TO MENTION
Laredo Democratic representative Henry Cuellar sent a letter out to his friends and constituents this summer touting the benefits of Obamacare and how it has helped younger adults with healthcare.
What Cuellar failed to mention is that many south Texas voters realize that the U.S. has to come up with an additional $1 trillion in new spending to pay for Obamacare.
As Obamacare has slowly revealed itself, seniors and younger voters are finding out that these new healthcare costs are higher and that everybody with health insurance will be slammed hard to pay for all the previously uninsured people.
Seniors, especially voted against the Democrats in the last congressional election after learning thatObamacare rips into Medicare, the system they have been paying for most of their lives.
Cuellar failed to disclose that Obamacare cut $500 million directly from Medicare to help pay for tens of millions of younger people to be added to the healthcare system.
BILL ADDS ANOTHER BUREAUCRATIC BOARD TO OVERSEE MEDICARE CUTS
Recently the voters became aware that the bill also adds another bureaucratic payments board that will oversee future Medicare cuts without any real oversight from Congress or the administration.
Voters have also learned that Obamacare is already causing personal and business health insurance costs to skyrocket.
In August, Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming, the ranking Republican on the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, confirmed at a hearing that Obamacare has driven up insurance premiums and warned that premiums are estimated to rise by 9.4 percent in 2014; the year full implementation of the healthcare law takes place.
I WAS BORN AND RAISED A DEMOCRAT, BUT…
“I was born a Democrat and raised a Democrat,” Guerra pointed out. “But I have no real incentive to be nice to politicians who support Obama’s job programs for the unions, health programs that make me spend more, and things that harm America’s future.”
“Yep, you may say we are a bit cynical,” agreed Valdez. “But frankly, I am tired of being treated like I have to put up with what they are trying to deal me. I am not going to buy that garbage anymore.”
