For centuries luscious gardens, butterflies, fantasy art and imagination have been key ingredients in fairytales. Texas Discovery Gardens and the award winning artists Dan and Lori Dudley from Dirt On Your Skirt Studio are joining forces to bring you an exciting fairytale-like holiday party and gift shopping. If on-line shopping lacks inspiration, then waltz on over to Texas Discovery Garden’s Butterfly Wonderland event. Enjoy an evening of wine and dessert, musical entertainment and magical savings on one of a kind art.
Artists Dan and Lori Dudley have a special vision and love of fantasy. Their ceramic artwork is joyful, whimsical and imaginative. Dan’s mother was a serious artist and took him on watercolor field trips in Japan. As a Southern Baptist missionary kid, his past inspired his current art. Many of his ceramic pieces have Asian influences, but you can’t take the cowboy out of a Texan, so there’s plenty of western art. Lori’s “Goddesses” motifs are especially fertile and interesting. Her “Nature” collection looks outstanding inside or strategically placed in a garden. Dan’s “Characters” work has a sense of humor along with his “Day of the Dead” art that brings life to any party or décor.
When Dan was a young child he always managed to throw in some animated characters running through the fields in his artwork. For many years he had an animation business before switching to ceramic art. Lori designed children’s clothing and was an event coordinator. She went back to her clay roots and began throwing on the wheel. Her love of nature and her organic sensibilities gives her work a sensuous beauty. Her sense of color, detail, texture and unique vision intrigues and allures. Many of her pieces are conversation starters and showcase focal points for any home or office.
The Texas Discovery Garden’s evening features complimentary drinks from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, hors d’oeuvres and dessert. Inside the Butterfly House, enjoy whimsical nature-themed ceramics by Dan and Lori Dudley with Dirt on your Skirt Studio. Live music entertainment will provide a festive atmosphere for shopping in their Gift Shop, which will offer 20 to 60 percent savings on select items-just in time for the holiday season!
