God offers a free gift of salvation to the people of this world, which is Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Jesus is the salvation that God offers to every person who desires to live for God by changing the way they live their life. As the Saviour, Jesus offers the believer an opportunity to prosper their soul by the word of God. What this means is by obeying God’s word through faith, the believer learns how to practice living a holy and righteous life for Christ by turning away from practicing ways which are unrighteous toward God, thus transforming them into a better person spiritually.
This spiritual transformation first starts in the heart of every believer which is where the Spirit of Christ resides.
“Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.” Romans 10:9-10
By believing on the presence of Christ in their life, the believer comes into agreement with the righteous ways of Christ, which they learn to walk out by faith. And as Christ leads them through their walk, the believer’s ways begin to change in order to outwardly reveal the true righteous character of God.
What God did through Christ was to establish the laws of righteousness, thus creating for the believer a new way for them to live their life where there is no desire to sin against the ways of God.
There is so much pain and suffering in the world today, and many people are dying because they do not believe in God or his word. If the soul of a person does not prosper by the word of God, then they will continue to increase in their ways of practicing sin. And as a result, they will do what is instinctually natural instead of what God spiritually commands.
Through salvation, the believer can now learn to live a holy and righteous life before God, a life when lived through the faith of Christ, will be acceptable to God.
