…while the Republican Party may have laid the trap for their buoyantly black candidate
During the 2012 Presidential surge for the lead candidate amongst the Republican field of candidates, Herman Cain certainly sticks out amongst his challengers. The 65-year old Memphis born African American GOP candidate, was once but a blip on the electoral map who has since proven his detractors wrong; however, despite his quality achievements and accomplishments, the perceived front-runner in the Republican quest to defeat Barack Obama for President seems to have been succumb to the same liberal media attacks witnessed by the first “black hope” for the GOP – Michael Steele.
While the traditional liberal media outlets such as CNBC, MSNBC, the Huffington Post and even the O – yes, the Oprah Winfrey magazine which was ranked the 13th most liberal news media outlet in the world by Mondo Times – have from day one made a mockery of the Cain candidacy. The black liberal talk-shows made the disgust even worst in terms of their slanted hatred towards one of their own, as Cain was a talk-show host in Georgia himself. Local radio stations such as Radio One and the Larry Young Morning Show, who usually are the mainstream liberalizers of African American driven news and politics, has consistently been guilty of such charges, as the shows host has consistently bashed Cain, as if he was some sort of buffoon? The man who graduated from such higher institutions of learning like Purdue –where he graduated with a master’s degree in computer science – and Morehouse College, who mind you is arguably the best black university in the nation; consistently receives negative connotations as if he were some 8th-grade dropout with a GED, who was recently paroled from the penitentiary after a 20-year bid?
Mind you, this is a man who has such achievements under his belt as being the former Chairman and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, a national restaurant chain; the former President and CEO of the National Restaurant Association, as well as being the former Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank. He has fathered two children, overcome Stage IV cancer in his colon and metastases in his liver, which had his chances of living at 30% in 2006; all the while amassing a personal wealth estimated at being between $3-$6 million – not to mention becoming the perceived front-runner for the GOP nomination for President in mid-October. Yet political pundits, especially those of African American descent, dare challenge his credibility at being a possible candidate for the nation’s highest office? If I’m not mistaken, Barack Obama was not that qualified when he contended for the White House, being only a junior senator from Illinois and having absolutely no governing management experience whatsoever! Yet, let Mr. Young tell it and Herman Cain cannot drink from the same glass as our beloved President?
However, as LY’s counterpart Coach Butch McAdams so eloquently put it, what would be so bad as to see two black men vying for the highest elected office in America? Almost assuredly, despite the outcome, African Americans would surely be proud of the fact that before 2008 we had not even seen a dark-skinned Vice-President, let alone President, since the creation of the Presidency in 1789 – having only a small faction of African American US Senators. Though Cain’s latest critics seem hell-bent on ensuring his demise, I personally don’t believe that it was those same liberal detractors that put out this misinformation, sexual misconduct campaign of spiteful allegations and high priced attorneys. I am almost certain that this mess smells to be that of a right-wing attack of a black man, who seemed to have gotten ‘too big for his britches’!
Mind you, when these allegations surfaced, Herman Cain had emerged as the front-runner in a crowded field of politicians who hate being outmaneuvered and overshadowed by someone they feel should be beneath them. While Cain has never held public office and was seen in the beginning of his process by many as a Tea-Party kook only interested in selling his book, he has surpassed many of those who felt it imperative that they make a good showing and others who felt it a right of passage that they lead the pack – especially as some have been running for this post for more than half a decade. Thus, the perception that more people were interested in the message of a black man that had such a fundamental financial plan, the likes of 9-9-9, had many in the race upset and confused to his instant popularity, since he in fact had not walked the same paths to the presidential campaign as did they, nor could any of their high paid advisors tell them how to outwit Herman.

However, it is my belief that the GOP knew they could not possibly win in 2012 with President Obama again garnering over 90% of the African American electorate. They also realized that it was not in their playbook to have a black win the nomination of a ultra-white, conservative party. Thus, they devised a plan to show the world especially that of the African American communities, that they would consider such a black candidate represented by his surging poll numbers and perceived likelihood at actually winning the nomination – at least early on in the process. Yet, as they pitched the idea to Mr. Cain – who assuredly took them up on the offer as it would sell more of his books – their contingency plan if Cain did not back off when forewarned, thereby offering the American public the prepared statements by these Chicago women holding these age old allegations against him if need be. Obviously, Herman Cain did not believe they would use such tactics, or that these baseless allegations would stick and eventually hurt his chances; however, I bet he’d reconsider such a decision based on hindsight.
Why would I believe such a ‘conspiracy theory’? Well based on the fact that I am well aware of the behind-the-scenes tactics and agreements used in campaigns, that are usually not publicized and the general electorate is almost never privy too; I do think this was a devised strategy based on the fringe politics of the Tea Party movement, possibly causing trouble for the eventual nominee. Therefore, why not make everyone somewhat happy, even giving the great possibility of Cain being a VP nominee to a more moderately liberal [Jon] Huntsman or god-forbid [Mitt] Romney. And then, when Huntsman and Mississippi Governor and RGA [Republican Governor’s Association] Chairman Haley Barbour both asked Cain to reveal all the dirt he has in the closest to the American public after only the initial allegation, told me that they knew of further information that could possibly be revealed – which we’ve seen come to light. How would they know that there was more to come from someone they did not even know before his insurgence weeks before?
While Cain may continue to take the brunt of the liberal news media throughout this electoral process, whether or not he receives the Republican nomination for President [which I’ve bet against]; he may need to worry more about those in his own party, who are just as nasty, if not more, towards tilting public opinion against anyone not to their liking! After Cain slays the Abel minded liberal news core, he’ll still have to contend with the evil dwellers of the city of Nod! Beware…
