RT LAUDERDALE, FL – Relive the classic tales in Aesop’s Fables on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center as part of the Broward Center’s 2011-12 Family Fun Series presented by Coventry Health Care of Florida and at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. as part of the Smart Stage Matinee Series.
Presented by Eckerd Theatre Company, this production of Aesop’s Fables uses lively storytelling, physical comedy and the help of the audience to bring The Lion and the Mouse, The Tortoise and the Hare and The Fox and the Grapes to life as children learn valuable life lessons and are introduced to some of the world’s most cherished stories.
The Family Fun Series offers the ultimate theatergoing experience with performances based on classic children’s literature which introduce young audiences to the arts while strengthening reading skills. The weekend performances feature pre-show arts and crafts presented by Young At Art Museum, complimentary face painting and a post-show snack provided by Whole Foods Market, proud sponsor of the Family Fun Series.
Individual tickets for the Family Fun Series performances are $15 in advance and $16 when bought the day of the performance with $3 lap tickets available for infants 12 months and under. Smart Stage Matinees are affordably-priced professional school-day performances where learning comes to life onstage for all students in grades Pre-K through 12. Each performance covers themes which reinforce classroom learning and directly connect with core curriculum through literature-based shows, science and math-related productions, dramatizations of historical events and immersion into the music, dance and traditions of different cultures. Tickets for the Smart Stage Matinee performances are $10 for individual seats as well as for groups of 10 or more and $3 lap seats are available for infants 12 months and under.
