The March of Dimes kicked off their annual Signature Chef Auction at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown in Washington, DC. More than 30 of the city’s most talented and creative chefs and bartenders showed off the their culinary and cocktail expertise in support of the March of Dimes during the auction.
This year’s attendees were delighted and intrigued by the delicious offerings from local restaurants, wineries and mixologists, including; Aqua al 2, B. Smith’s, BLT Steak, Lima, West-end Bistro, Smooth Ambler Spirits, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Jamie Mc Bain from Bourbon, Ris, Chef Geoff’s, Casa Nonna, Art & Soul and Chef Rock Harper of Stratford University. Chef Rock has been a longtime supporter of the March of Dimes mission and has served as the March of Dimes national celebrity chef volunteer.
This year’s chairs included Signature Chef Co-Chairs Walter Scheib, a former White House executive chef and his wife Jean Scheib, Honorary Signature Chef Robert Wiedmaier of Brasserie Beck, BRABO, The Tasting Room, Marcel’s and Mussel Bar,and Cocktail Chair Jo-Jo Valenzuela of Old Glory BBQ added to the flavorful night of giving to raise awareness of this serious problem of premature births and to help more babies start healthy lives.
The March of Dimes and Signature Chef Auction celebrate another successful year. The March of Dimes is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
Millions of babies worldwide die each year because they were born too soon and 12 million more struggle to survive. The March of Dimes carries out their mission through research, community services, programs, support, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives.
