As reported last week, while we are still waiting for the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Bionic Commando to make it to the Wii’s Virtual Console, they have proceeded to go ahead and give us the Game Boy version on the Nintendo eShop. While an adaptation of the NES game, the Game Boy shakes things up by swapping out the original’s more military-styled theme for one which is a bit more anime/science-fiction.
Given that future iterations, such as Bionic Commando, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, and Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (and PC, in some cases) would follow on from the NES version of the game, the Game Boy iteration manages to stand out from the crowd as a result.
Also new to the Nintendo 3DS this week is the nigh-unpronouncable VVVVVV, an oldschool-styled action-adventure game from Nicalis, the publisher of Cave Story. On Nintendo DSiWare as well as the eShop is the dessert-slicing action of Cake Ninja and the puzzle-strategy game Slingo Supreme.
Finally, the world’s greatest thief (well, one of them, anyway) continues her arithmetic-based mischief on WiiWare in Carmen Sandiego Adventures in Math: The Big Ben Burglary.
All in all, not a bad week to go out on… well, if you have a Nintendo 3DS, at any rate. For more info on each title, check out the press release below:
