Since the children are out of school right now, most parents are probably scratching their heads trying to come up with something to entertain their children. Sometimes it is hard to believe that even today, the best gift for a lot of younger children to play with is the box that the toy came in, especially if it is a larger type toy. With everything else said and done now that Christmas was yesterday, children still need to get outside and do something else with their time besides playing with their new toys from Santa Claus.
Also, this can be a great time for wearied Moms to get out of the house as well and take some time for yourself. Especially, if you have been waiting to find the time to read that new book that you have been waiting to read. So here is the idea for this week:
At the Oak Lawn Library, located at 9427 W. Raymond, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 (Tel) 708-422-4990, they will be having a free movie for children on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 2-4:00 p.m. They will be featuring, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” with Jim Carrey in the lead role.
Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, young Tommy Popper looks forward to the moments when, on his tiptoes to reach a ham radio in his bedroom, he can talk to his world-traveling father. Years later, Tommy is now Mr. Popper, a highly successful real estate developer in Manhattan. Amicably divorced from Amanda, with two children he sees on alternate weekends, Mr. Popper lives the life of luxury in his ultra-modern Park Avenue apartment and is well on his way to becoming partner at his prestigious firm. That is, until the morning a final gift from Popper’s late father, a souvenir from Antarctica, arrives in a crate at Popper’s front door. (Yahoo.com)
The other free movie that the library will be featuring is on:
Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. They will be featuring, “Winnie the Pooh,” a long-time favorite and a classic by Disney.
Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh,” the first big-screen Pooh adventure from Disney animation in more than 35 years. Owl sends the whole gang — Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, and Eeyore — on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some hunny. (Yahoo.com)
With these two choices available to keep your children busy and on-track before they go back to school again, they should love the outing and so should all the Moms. This will give you, the Mom your well-deserved “Me-time.”
