After a 1 week hiatus to take a much needed break and stuff myself silly with turkey, it’s time for another look at arts education in North Metro Atlanta. With only 3 weeks until winter break, expect a lot of holiday happenings in arts programs all over the North Metro. Here’s a few events to check out this week.
The Creekland Middle School 6th grade band will have their debut performance on Tuesday, November 29 at 6:30pm. The concert is free and will take place in the CMS Cafeteria in Lawrenceville.
The Taylor Road Middle School Orchestras will present a Winter Concert on November 30, 2011 at 6pm in the Taylor Road Middle School Gym in Johns Creek. The concert will begin with the Sixth Grade group performing “First Christmas March” and “Hanukkah Holiday”, followed by the TRMS Fiddle/Alternative Styles Group performing Green Day’s “21 Guns” and the Glee Version of “Don’t Stop Believin’”. The concert will conclude with the Advanced Orchestra performing “Brandenburg Concerto No.3”, “Greensleeves Millenium”, and “DECKorations”- variations of Deck the Halls. Admission is free.
Pinckneyville Middle School will host an orchestra concert November 30 at 7pm in the PMS Gym in Norcross. The concert will feature the 6th grade orchestra in their debut performance. Admission is free.
Brookwood High School Orchestra will present a winter concert on December 1 at 6pm. The concert is free and will be held in the BHS Commons in Lawrenceville. Both the symphonic and concert orchestras will be featured.
Brookwood High School Theatre Department will present “A Christmas Carol” December 1 & 3 at 7pm in the BHS Theatre in Lawrenceville. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students/seniors.
The North Gwinnett Middle School band will present their holiday concert December 1 at 7pm. The concert is free and will be held in the NGMS Cafeteria in Suwanee.
There will be a holiday concert at South Gwinnett High School in Snellville on December 1 at 7:00pm. Featured will be the Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Bands. The concert is free and will be held in the Theatre at the High School.
Also on December 1, the Creekland Middle School 8th grade band will join forces with both the Collins Hill Symphonic band and the Collins Hill Wind Symphony at Collins Hill High School Theatre in Lawrenceville. The concert is free and will begin at 6:00pm.
The McConnell Middle School 8th grade orchestra will present their holiday concert on December 2 at 7pm. The concert is free and will be held at Archer High School in Lawrenceville.
The Mill Creek High School Drama Department will present the Tim Kelly’s adaptation of the classic Oscar Wilde story “The Canterville Ghost” December 2 and 3 at 7pm. All performances will take place in the MHS Theatre in Hoschton. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. The Shiloh High School music department will present Handel’s Messiah on Decmber 3. The concert will be held at Annistown Baptist Church in Snellville and will begin at 7:00 PM with prelude music at 6:30 PM by Concert Orchestra and Band. Also featured will be the Concert Choir and Chamber Orchestra.
