We are now well into November, and school programs are speeding along toward Thanksgiving break. However, that’s not stopping these school arts programs from continuing to present quality arts programming for the school and community. Here are some events to check out this week.
Northview High School in Johns Creek will present a Chamber Music recital on Thursday November 10 at 7:00pm. The recital will take place in the Northview High Theatre and will feature duets, trios, and quartets made up of students from the internationally recognized Northview Chamber Orchestra. Admission is free.
Ridgeview Charter School will present their production of “The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza” This play visits several ancient myths and remixes them into a sketch comedy audiences will love. The curtain will open on November 10 and 11 at 7:00 (doors open at 6:30). Tickets will be $5 each. Groups of 4 or more may purchase tickets for $3 each but only if they are paid for in advance and as one check. Advance sales end November 9
The Milton High School Orchestra Program presents its annual Fall Concert at 7:30pm on November 10, 2011 in the high school’s auditorium in Milton. The orchestra program will present works by Bach, Dvorak, Warlock, Stamitz and Nunez. The admission charge is $5 for adults and $3 for students/children. Refreshments will be served during intermission. The theme for the concert is “A Concert of Great Masterworks”
Brookwood HS Dance Department will present their fall dance concert “Dances In The Dark” November 10 &12 at 7:00pm in the Brookwood High School Theater in Lawrenceville. Choreography for the show is done by guest choreographers from the ATL dance community, BHS Alumni, BHS students, and the BHS Dance Director. Tickets are available during lunches starting Nov. 7 – 11 and at the door. The cost for students/seniors is $6 and adults are $7.
Jones Middle School in Buford will present their musical Beauty and the Beast on November 12. Performances will be at 2pm and 6pm at the Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula. The show will feature over 60 performers from the JMS Choral Department. Tickets are $5 and free for children 3 and under. Tickets can be purchase from any cast member or by contacing director Debbie Fritz and Glenn Jones Middle School at 770-904-5471.
The Buford High School and Middle School Bands will present their annual Fall Jazz Concert on Sunday, November 13, 2:00pm, at the Buford Fine Arts Center in Buford. The Buford High School Jazz Ensemble and Buford Middle School Jazz Band will perform. The featured guest artist is noted saxophone player Sam Skelton, director of Jazz Studies at Kennesaw State University. Admission is free.
