The Harlem Globetrotters are scheduled to be at the Allstate Arena (formerly the Rosemont Theatre) on December 30, 2011 for two shows, 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets cost $200.00 for courtside, which is a wonderful deal if you have been a long time fan of the Globetrotters. Tickets for general seating cost $20.00 to $170.00 for both shows. Who doesn’t enjoy watching the colossal calvacade of courtside cut-ups? It does take a tremendous amount of athletic ability and agility to perform as they do, although they make it appear that it’s so easy that a child could do it. This is part of the magic of their shows, which is why they have been around so long and have entertained audiences all over the world.
They were first formed 85 years ago, here in Chicago, but were originally named the “Savoy Big Five.” However, in just a few short years they were renamed as the Harlem Globetrotters and they had already played a 1000 games. Finally, in 1941 they signed Reece “Goose” Tatum, who helped to change the way that the team would start to perform by including comedy on the court while playing. One of their own, named Nathaniel “Sweetwater” Clifton was drafted into the NBA, which tells you of the excellent athletic ability of these basketball players. They have had illustrious players on their team, such as Wilt Chamberlain and Magic Johnson, and they have been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, according to their official website.
They have been thrilling audiences for 85 years and they won’t be stopping anytime soon. So definitely get your tickets as soon as possible. This is also another great school break activity that the entire family can enjoy. The Allstate Arena is located at: 6920 North Mannheim Road, Rosemont, IL 60018.
