ABC announced today that three big stars from American Idol are now set to perform at the 2011 AMA Awards, meaning the Idol influence on the world of music is still going strong. Past contestant Daughtry and judge Jennifer Lopez are joining American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and all three will perform during the live event that airs on November 20th on ABC. With the addition of even more big names in music, like Gym Class Heroes, Lil Jon, OneRepublic, the Band Perry and will.i.am, the 2011 AMA Awards is turning out to be one of the biggest TV events of the year.
ABC and dick clark productions promise that the 2011 American Music Awards will be “music’s biggest night.” Previously announced performers include Christina Aguilera, Mark Anthony, Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Pitbull, and Maroon 5. The show will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre from 8:00-11:00 ET/PT on November 20th on ABC.
For 2011, the AMAs will feature five unique collaborations which include the following special performances: Pitbull with Marc Anthony and Lil Jon, Gym Class Heroes with Adam Levine, will.i.am with Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj with David Guetta, and Maroon 5 with Christina Aguilera.
Artists will be honored in the categories of Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Latin, and Contemporary Inspirational.
