An estimated 226 million consumers shopped in stores and online between Thursday and Sunday, according to the National Retail Federation, which set a record in the United States.

This weekend, Amazon opened up a Cyber Monday Deals Week section on its website which should attract tens of millions of visitors through Saturday. You can browse through promotions such as up to 80 percent discounts on household items and up to 60 percent discounts on laptops and digital cameras. If you’re an e-book lover, Amazon is selling its new Kindle Fire for 60 percent less than Apple’s iPad 2. The Seattle-based company is the biggest online retailer in the world with $34.2 billion in revenue in 2010.

Best Buy’s website is offering discounts on various products (mostly electronics) on Sunday and Monday. You can also browse through special deals (located in the middle section of the site) that will last for the balance of the week. For your online holiday shopping, you’ll have until January 24 to make product returns on most items.
“Best Buy’s success is partially due to locking in compelling exclusive deals, better than Amazon’s, and having unique in-store-only offers,” Credit Suisse analyst Gary Balter told Reuters. Best Buy is the eleventh biggest online retailer in the world.

Apple has the second-highest market capitalization in the world at $337 billion, following oil giant Exxon Mobil at $354 billion.
