(WABC) EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION On Christmas Eve last year Wyzhir Johnson-Goslee, now 16, was helping his grandfather renovate the family’s aging home when his coat sleeve got caught in a miter saw and severed his left hand. In this episode Ty Pennington and his crew rebuild the house, which has been in the Johnson-Goslee family for more than 80 years, the better to help Wyzhir — who stays behind to work on the renovation — realize his dreams of becoming an interior designer and construction worker.
8 P.M. (TNT) FOUR CHRISTMASES (2008) Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn star as Kate and Brad, an unmarried San Francisco couple who each Christmas invent a charity project as an excuse to take a hedonistic vacation and avoid festivities with their dysfunctional families. But when a reporter points a camera their way just as their trip to Fiji is canceled, they have no choice but to make the rounds. Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek play Brad’s parents; Mary Steenburgen and Jon Voight are Kate’s.

(Sundance) ALL ON THE LINE WITH JOE ZEE Mr. Zee, the creative director for Elle magazine, dishes out fashion savvy, business advice and tough love as he helps designers save their flagging clothing lines. Here he comes to the rescue of Kathy Wilson and her husband, Erik, who began their business, Kathy Wilson Atelier, after designing a custom jacket for Stevie Wonder but have recently hit a wall. Mr. Zee arranges for them to create an outfit for Adam Lambert. But will that be enough to impress a buyer from Scoop NYC?
10 P.M. (WNBC) DATELINE NBC Two years after the disappearance of Susan Powell, a Utah wife and mother, Keith Morrison talks with her husband, father-in-law and friends as well as with investigators about what might have happened.
10 P.M. (WLIW 21) NEW TRICKS British police series. Communal Living. Struggling to control and conceal his desire to drink again, Brian finds the perfect refuge in a commune at the centre of the team’s investigation into the death of a university student. The case also helps Gerry face up to his relationship with his daughter Emily, who has not spoken to him since she discovered the truth about the DNA test at Ricky Hanson’s trial.
10:30 P.M. (WNET 13) THAT’S CLASSIC! Musicians who double on the funny bone — from percussionists who met at clown college to an opera singer with a rogue accompanist — test their humor in WQXR’s Classical Comedy Contest, held last month as part of the New York Comedy Festival. The judges include the comedian Robert Klein; Peter Schickele of P. D. Q. Bach fame; the soprano Deborah Voigt; and Charles Hamlen, the chairman of IMG Artists. .
