The stellar skies have been relatively calm the past several days. We had a New Moon in 3º Sagittarius on Thanksgiving with a partial solar eclipse in the wee hours of Friday morning. The east coast of the United States was not in the viewing area of this eclipse so we as individuals are not as effected by it. Now that it’s three days later and the Moon has grown into a beautiful crescent in the evening sky, we will see it in conjunction with Venus, weather permitting of course. Here in Oakland, Bergen County it’s partly cloudy at the moment but when the Sun goes down tonight, maybe it will clear up just long enough to see the Moon and Venus side by side. Venus has been visible at sunset (the evening star) for a few weeks now and will become easier to see as the Christmas holidays approach. The cold, crisp winter air makes the stars and planets even brighter than usual. So today and tomorrow look for the crescent Moon and Venus doing their little dance together at sunset.
Venus entered Capricorn just yesterday. For the next few days she will be in conjunction with Pluto, as well as part of the Grand Trine with Jupiter in Taurus and Mars in Virgo. Of course we can’t see Pluto but trust me he’s up there. The Grand Trine will separate soon as Mars moves ahead in Virgo. But for now it’s a beautiful thing. If you are a Capricorn born during the last week of December or if you have Venus conjunct Pluto in your birth chart you may notice the effects of this transit. Passions run higher than usual. People are more earthy, intense, aggressive and controlling in relationships. It could be an exciting memorable time but do not manipulate, coerce or seduce others to get what you want. This is a creative, ambitious period. Business and holiday sales will do well. Venus brings friendship, love, beauty, glamour and financial good luck. Power and opportunity are present. You can progress as a person but use these gifts not for selfish gain but for the good of others.
By the way, Mercury stationed in Sagittarius on Thanksgiving and is now retrograde for the next three weeks so remember to change your schedule accordingly. Don’t sign contracts. Clean out closets, organize files, do research and stick around the home fires rather than travel for the time being. You can read more about Mercury retrograde and the Solar Eclipse at Robert Wilkinson’s Aquarius Papers.
