While Walt Disney World is a fun place to celebrate the beginning of 2012, guest should be warned: the period between Christmas and New Year’s Day is one of Disney’s peak seasons. While this means that Disney pulls out all the stops when it comes to shows and entertainment, it also means the parks and resort are very, very crowded.
On Dec. 27, Disney Parks Blog updated some of its last-minute options for celebrating New Year’s Eve 2011 at Walt Disney World.
Among the highlight mentioned are two New Year’s Eve celebrations at Epcot.
Bistro de Paris, at France in World Showcase, offers an elegant dining experience for adults. A four-course meal is offered at two seating times: 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Cost for the meal is $175 per person, with an optional wine pairing for an additional $75 per person. To book, guest should call Bistro manager Philippe Girard at 407-284-0202.
“Fantasia 2011,” a reference the classic 1940 film, offers a more casual dining experience for families and takes place World Showplace. The menu includes meat, poultry and seafood, pasta, desserts and children’s options. Seatings run from 4:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., and the cost is $73.95 (adults) $47.54 (children 3-11). Alcohol is available, for adults of legal age with ID, but not included in the base price.
Paid reservations at the time of booking and theme-park admission are required. See the Disney Parks Blog for more information on menus.

Walt Disney World New Year’s Eve celebrations beyond the parks
Also worth noting are several events that take place at Walt Disney World Resort, but not in the theme parks. They, too, can offer a way to enjoy New Year’s Eve that are less focused on Disney food.
Orlando’s House of Blues, located at Downtown Disney, will host with WJRR an all-ages party with headliner Sevendust and featuring Trivium, Black Tide and Love Juice. Prices are $48.50 in advance and $51.50 day of show (if available).
Cirque du Soleil, also located in Downtown Disney, offers two special Dec. 31 performances at. 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. Call 407-WDW-SEAT for prices and seats. A limited number of seats are still available.
Atlantic Dance Hall at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort offers a special-ticket New Year’s Eve party from 8:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m. with video DJ Tony Zapulla. The event includes a Champagne toast and midnight and three cocktail bars, although no food service. Guests must be 21 years and older. Cost is $35, due at the time of booking, and VIP seating is sold out. The party will accept walk-in guests.
DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney will also celebrate New Year’s Eve 2011 with a family-friendly evening for the second year in a row.
With so many people wanting to celebrate the start of 2012 on New Year’s Eve while at Disney, events can sell out quickly. Be sure to firm up your last-minute celebratory plans as soon as possible.
