The Winter Solstice marks the turning of the light toward the lengthening of the day. It also represents the time of spiritually turning inward and letting the self be center on inner direction and purpose. People are often reviewing the process of the year that has past and beginning to focus on making the next year better. This is the perfect time for assimilating and becoming aware of our deepest needs. We give thought to what makes us happy.
Many times the answer to what makes us happy emerges out of our discontent. In the cosmic moment, this Solstice highlights a global collective desire for a revolution against corrupt governments and the repression of the masses through unfair economic practices. One of the important factors is that this globalized pain is becoming a unifying focus. Longer planetary cycle phases are involved when trends and ideologies spread at a collective level.
One cycle relative to the rise and fall of political, economic and social developments had its beginning in 1989 and is currently at the stage relative to ripened fruit. Such influences can show the rapid spread and sharing of ideologies that can bring down corrupt powers. Just as we have seen the global spread of the Occupy Movement since the Autumnal Equinox, the power of the people is strengthening. Within this situation, we witness the rising power of the women to speak out and demonstrate against the misuse of force and suppression of expression.
The Solstice Sun highlights the theme of the people against the corporate machine. The season ahead will contain events that will repeat the collective cry for fairness and human rights. Such collective themes tend to draw out initiative within the populace to withstand hardship while standing together. The people will get stronger and more focused on their demands. New ideas will emerge that galvanize the movement that will support the betterment of the people by their own power. It will be similar to the shift from Occupy Wall Street to Occupy Foreclosures. We could see a big change in the economic structure, as people are resilient and resourceful. Buying locally, bartering, and service exchanges take the power out of the corporate stream. “People helping people” is the emerging trend for 2012.
The Winter Solstice is a turning point. The positive influence of the astrological cycles at this time brings the potential for cease-fire agreements, peace treaties, and diplomatic events. The end to the war in Iraq is one event. It would be very hopeful to see Congressional politicians act with compassion before they go home for the holidays. We will see the results of their actions in the opening days of 2012. As we focus our personal attention on what we intend for ourselves for the coming year, let us be mindful of how we participate in our families and community that we might bring about a new energy of peace and harmony in all of our relations.
