Tonight on WWE RAW, the reigning WWE Champion CM Punk took on his antognist in WWE RAW GM John Laurinitis and accepted his challenge of a Gautlet Match. If Punk won the match, he got his wish of being able to wrestle Laurinitis. If Punks lost to any of his three challengers, he would have to defend the WWE Championship against them on RAW next week on January 2nd.

Punk who had the sold-out hometown Chicago crowd behind him, defeated Jack Swagger and moved on to Dolph Ziggler. Swagger attacked Punk’s knee before Ziggler could get in the rint to start the next stage of the Gauntlet. Ziggler was able to pin Punk after Laurinitis distracted the referee and Punk after he ejected Ziggler’s manager Vickie Guerrero and Swagger from ringside.
Ziggler mocked Punk after the dirty finnish, when he trotted around the ring with WWE Championship belt and almost left the arena floor with the prize. Ziggler left the title at the top of ramp before sneering at Punk in the ring. Next week on WWE RAW live from Memphis, CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler in a WWE Championship Match.
It’s about time that the red hot Ziggler get his promotion to the WWE title scene. The Zig Zag Man has been on a roll in 2011, upping his game both on the microphone and in the ring every single week. He was an MVP on the fall season Pay Per Views. He wrestled twice on the Survivor Series Pay Perview. His fued with another up and comer Zack Ryder was probably one of the best stories in the last few months from WWE.
CM Punk was certainly greeted like a hometown hero in Chicago in the opening segment on WWE RAW. You got to give it up to the Windy City fans for being one of the most energetic crowds in the world for Pro Wrestling. Punk will have a strong challenge next week with Ziggler.
John Cena’s show-closing segment with getting a personality exam from the masked Kane was odd but very intriguing turn in Cena’s Road to Wrestlemania. Cena has been supposedly been feeling the pressure from the Anti-Cena fans and having Kane use his evil perspective to turn Cena that is something to follow. Cena will have amp up his character to new level, to get ready for the Rock at Wrestlemania. Could Kane be the one who turns Cena into a ‘heel’?
The big secret of the WWE at the moment is who is behind the mysterious “it Begins” videos. This week on RAW we saw the last video before we get the big reveal next week in Memphis. To watch all of the videos and to find out who is rumored to be behind “It Begins”, click here.
