Christmas is a time of year that brings out the worst in some people, but it also brings out the best in others. The gift of God’s Son sent to earth for us makes many, Christians included, want to give as much as they can. Because of this people may take advantage of generosity. Those who want to help by giving, often have to look for creative ways to do so.
Springfield is among the communities that has benefited from this creativity. Layaways were paid off by strangers. The majority of this happened at K-Mart stores. This has also occurred in previous years. Wouldn’t it be great if this kind of compassion continued.
This may have been friends or family that helped out anonymously. Some of the reports have included statements that complete strangers went in just to see who might need some extra Christmas help. The blessing to the one who uses excess funds to make the holidays easier for others cannot be measured.
Christmas charity is something that is not understood by some people. Christians and those who believe in helping others look for ways to give, not excuses for not giving. One of the gifts of the Spirit is giving. Not every believer has the same level of desire to give. Don’t allow anyone to belittle you if someone else is more generous that you.
